A PROPERTY services firm in the Colne Valley has been recognised for its workmanship.

Slaithwaite-based Robinsons Property Services was judged winner of its category in the Building Excellence Awards run by the local authority building control departments of Kirklees, Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield and Calderdale councils.

The award came for Robinsons’ work to build an extension to a domestic property set in extensive gardens at Beaumont Park. The judging panel commended the scheme for its effective use of oak and reclaimed stone. The scheme included providing a large detached garage.

The award was presented to Terry Robinson, of Robinsons Property Services, at a ceremony staged at Headingley cricket ground, Leeds.

Mr Robinson project managed the contract, which also included contributions from architect Andrew Smith, joiner Johnny Wadsworth and Mr Robinson’s other business, Arizon.

Robinsons, formed more than 20 years ago, carries out work including new build, conversions and alterations to existing properties and remedial treatment – specialising in damp and timber.

Mr Robinson’s son Joe works for the firm as a qualified electrician while daughter Sophie is office administrator.

Mr Robinson said the firm’s success was also down to its in-house teams covering CORGI registered gas fitters, plumbers. electricians and skilled tradesmen working in areas such as roofing, joinery, bricklaying and plastering.

Among its contracts, Robinsons Property Services has completed projects for clients including Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing and on school caretakers’ homes.
