THE Competition Commission is to carry out a full-blown probe into Britain’s £3.3bn building materials industry.
The Office of Fair Trading has referred the matter to the commission after its report in August suggested the market for aggregates, cement and ready-mix concrete was not working well.
The OFT said five major players account for 90% of the cement market, 75% of aggregates sales and 70% of ready-mix production.
