A COFFEE company in Huddersfield is serving up half-time drinks for thousands of sports fans.
Bradley-based Cooper’s Coffee has sealed a £50,000 contract to supply its products to event catering specialist EMC, which provides food and drink to stadia across the north, including Huddersfield’s Galpharm Stadium.
EMC has contracted Cooper’s Coffee to make an exclusive EMC brand of Arabica filter coffee to be served at functions and in corporate boxes.
Cooper’s was awarded the business following a competitive pitch and will be supplying five of the group’s stadia, also including the KC Stadium in Hull and the Coral Windows Stadium in Bradford.
EMC is responsible for all hospitality and public catering in the stadia on match days.
It also provides catering services to the corporate market – with firms taking advantage of the venues’ function rooms and boxes.
Rob Smyth, EMC group operations director said: “The stadia we service all have excellent banqueting facilities, so it is important that we can also offer catering of the highest quality.
“Having looked at several coffee suppliers, we felt that Cooper’s had the best coffee and overall service offering combined with an excellent reputation.”
David Cooper, managing director of Cooper’s Coffee, said: “EMC is a significant new account for Cooper’s and we’re thrilled to be working with them.
“We’re looking forward to improving the coffee drinking experience of match goers all over the North of England.”
Cooper’s already supplies restaurants and cafés around the country with award-winning coffee and the latest espresso machines.
The firm was set up by David Cooper and his wife Jacqui in 1989 from a small back bedroom and garage in Leeds, but has grown to employ 17 people and has plans to expand its premises at Calder Trading Estate.
The company has Investors in People status and was named SME of the Year in the 2008 Examiner Business Awards.
EMC, based in Selby, North Yorkshire, is led by directors Simon Evans and Adrian Hunter.
Other stadia supplied by the company include Craven Park, home of Hull Kingston Rovers; Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium; Oakwell in Barnsley; and The Shay in Halifax.
