A SECURITY company has won an award for excelling in its chosen field.
AMR Security was named Business of the Month in the contest run by Huddersfield law firm Eaton Smith in conjunction with the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Business Link.
AMR Security, formed in 2008 by husband and wife Andrew and Jackie Russell, provides security staff and accredited training for people working in the security industry from its centre in Wakefield.
The company has won contracts with local councils and has worked in partnership with Safer Leeds, British Transport Police and West Yorkshire Police during the past two years.
The firm has some of the highest trained security staff in the region – with its 28-strong team all having valid SIA licences and undergoing regular in-house training.
Mr Russell formed the company after being made redundant from the print security sector.
Judges were impressed by the company’s remarkable year-on-year growth and aspirations to develop the business by adding to its range of training courses.
Mr Russell, who is managing director, said: “This is a pat on the back for all the hard work from our staff since we formed the business.”
The company has achieved a raft of standards in the last three years and scored in the top five percentile nationally in the Security Industry Authority Approved Contractor Scheme, ISO 9001:2008 to name just two.
The Business of the Month Award is open to all companies in Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.
