Brighouse-based ACC Flooring Ltd proved the stand-out entry in the Green Award category after impressing the judges with its enviable record for recycling – and went one better than last year when it was a runner-up in the same category.

The company, formed in July 1986, employs 12 people and provides cost-effective flooring systems for sites including commercial kitchens, food and drink factories, schools, bars, studios and restaurants.

The firm has continually set the pace in its sector – being the first resin flooring company to set up a recycling scheme and the first to recycle 100%. It has also won awards for its efforts to providing sustainability in construction.

The Green Award was sponsored by Sandal BMW & MINI.

Sales director Nick Megson said: “We are absolutely chuffed to bits. We stuck our neck out many years ago when it came to recycling when many of our rivals had their necks in the sand. We knew there was a way to recycle better and we invested the money in it. All our flooring systems are now completely sustainable.”
