A GO-AHEAD engineering company in Huddersfield is spanning the globe and spreading good news about the town worldwide.
Severn Unival manufactures, supplies and services highly specialised valves for the gas and oil industry worldwide from its premises at Milford Street, Huddersfield.
Director Colin Findlay said: "We sell all over the world and we are a real good solid engineering company.
"Our customers may not know about Huddersfield when we arrive but they sure do by the time we leave.
"Huddersfield is at the centre of valve technology for the whole of the UK and we are keeping that going by bringing in apprentices and engineers with a good engineering knowledge."
The majority of Severn Unival’s income derives from projects and commissions in far flung corners of the glob, including the remotest regions of the North Sea, Canada, Australia and the Middle East.
"However, the headquarters and engineering talent have always been embedded in Huddersfield."
The award judges remarked: "Severn Unival is a traditional engineering business employing Huddersfield people with its feet firmly in the 21st century. It is built on precision engineering and is competing on a global level."
Mr Findlay said the past 18 months had brought "significant benefits" for the business with activity in the Middle East, Asia and North America accelerating.
The firm is also set to extend its presence in Canada.
