EXECUTIVES abandoned their corporate flights last year as the recession saw a slump in international business travel, a study has revealed.

The economic slump saw international scheduled business travel from London’s major airports fall by 6% in 2008 against the previous year, said the Civil Aviation Authority.

Business passenger numbers – which grew by 20m to 63m in the 11 years to 2007 – was also thought to have declined last year.

No-frills airlines had also increased their market share.
