FINANCE directors whose skills have helped their organisations grow have been urged to enter the FDs’ Excellence Awards 2013.

The awards, now in their ninth year, are held in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales with support from the CBI and Lloyds Banking Group.

Last year, Angus Cockburn, of Aggreko, was named FTSE 100 FD of the Year after overseeing a 6% rise in profits to £324m during 2011. That year Aggreko also recorded the sharpest share price increase of any company on the FTSE 100.

In 2013, the awards will recognise the best-performing FDs in FTSE 100, 250 and 350 companies, as well as the best Young FD, Private Company FD and FD of the Future.

A new category has also been launched. The Inspirational FD of the Year award will celebrate inspiring finance directors and finance leaders who go beyond their remit to support, motivate and inspire their team; build a positive profile for their business’ contribute to community and act as a spokesman or figurehead on an issue of non-core business interest.

The Excellence Awards recognise business banks, auditors, financial software suppliers, recruitment firms and non-audit advisers.

Nominations can be put forward for the Young FD of the Year; Private Company FD of the Year; and FD of the Future categories. Nominations close on March 1, 2013. The FDs' Excellence Awards ceremony takes place on May 9 in London.
