THE search is on for performers to help bring some festive fun to late-night Christmas shopping in Huddersfield.

The Town Centre Partnership is looking for performers to play on Thursday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.

Town centre manager Cathy Burger said: “The town has traditionally benefited from brass bands and choirs.

“For the second year running we are offering them the opportunity to be in our Christmas brochure and have a listing on our website.

“We will be happy to help people with applications for collection licences.”

Cathy said Christmas in Huddersfield was set to be better than ever this year.

Entertainer Billy Pearce and Father Christmas will switch on the Christmas lights on Thursday, November 13.

This will be followed by the Festival of Lights on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22. The ice rink makes a return to town on Thursday, December 4.

Performers interested in taking part can contact the Town Centre Partnership on 10484 487933 or email htcpl@kirklees.gov.uk by Friday, October 17.
