A HUDDERSFIELD painting and maintenance contractor has been awarded a top accolade from the industry.

J&S Seddon Painting, based at Upper Bankfield Mills, Almondbury Bank, received the 2008 Special Award for Excellence from the Painting and Decorating Association.

Independent judges selected the company for its work in training, quality and a commitment to promoting the industry.

The presentation was made at the magnificent Painter’s Hall in London by the association, which is the trade body representing painters and decorators across the UK.

PDA chief executive David Powis said: “The award recognises high standards in a company and achieving the accolade is a very special achievement.”

Stuart Seddon, chairman of the company, said: “It came as a real surprise, but we are absolutely delighted our work has been recognised in this way.”

J&S Seddon Painting is part J & S Seddon Ltd, which is based at Stoke-on-Trent and has more than 1,000 employees at regional offices across the UK.

J&S Seddon Ltd is part of Seddon Group Ltd, one of the UK’s biggest privately owned construction firms with annual sales exceeding £240m and 1,700 staff.
