A FIRM providing “green” building products has been shortlisted for a construction prize.
Huddersfield-based Green Building Store is competing in the water conservation category of the Sustainable Housing Awards 2008 – the first awards scheme in the UK to focus on the best green social housing projects built in the UK.
The awards will be presented on Tuesday, November 11, in London in a ceremony hosted by impressionist Alistair McGowan.
Green Building Store, based at Bolster Moor, Golcar, has been nominated for its ES4 ultra-low flush toilet, which has helped cut water consumption in social housing, visitor centres, bus stations and schools.
The company has already been shortlisted in the Green Award category of the Examiner Business Awards, which take place on Thursday, November 13, at the Galpharm Stadium.
Green Building Store, and its sister company Green Building Company has a combined workforce of more than 30.
Ted Stevens, events director for awards organiser Inside Housing magazine, said: “We've had a terrific response with more than 130 entries for the awards, so Green Building Store has done brilliantly to get shortlisted from such a huge field.”
