A FURNITURE manufacturer in Huddersfield is set to make redundancies.
Ellis Furniture, which has about 300 employees, blamed a seasonal slowdown in business for the likely move.
But the company declined to say how many jobs would be lost or when the redundancies would take effect.
In a statement, director Charles Ellis said: "Due to what is hoped to be a temporary seasonal slowdown in volume of business, Ellis Furniture is considering a small number of redundancies from its workforce.
"While no final decisions have been taken, it is anticipated that about 5% of personnel may be affected."
The family-owned firm, formed in 1891, operates from a 200,000sq ft factory at Silver Street, Aspley.
The company designs, makes and supplies kitchens and bedrooms, cupboards, drawers and desks.
Customers include local councils, and government departments.
