A COMPANY in Huddersfield has again been recognised as one of the best employers in Britain.
Roadside recovery specialist FMG Support has been recognised as a centre for employment excellence – being ranked at 40 in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For guide.
It is the second year running that the company has been listed in the guide – and an improvement of 27 places on its 2010 ranking.
This year FMG Support also achieved the highest ranking of just four Yorkshire businesses listed.
The guide is the most comprehensive survey of employer-employee engagement in Britain and is open to all businesses with between 250 and 4,999 employees.
The survey asked 282 FMG Support employees how they thought their company rated in key areas such as leadership, personal growth and well-being.
They praised the firm for providing inspirational leadership – with 79% of those polled being strongly positive about the organisation, its senior managers and its values. In addition, 80% felt “extremely positive” about their job and love working for the organisation.
The accolade comes just weeks after FMG Support, based at St Andrew’s Road, Bradley Mills, was listed in the Sunday Times Deloitte Buyout Track 100, which ranks the UK’s fastest-growing privately-funded companies.
FMG Support was ranked 66 in that listing with annual profit growth of almost 30% during the past two years.
The company, which employs more than 400 people, reported profits of £4.44m for its latest accounting period.
FMG Support said its status as a key regional employer has been cemented by a sustained period of growth and major contract wins – including ones with the Highways Agency, parcels delivery firm DHL and construction giant Carillion.
It said: “FMG Support’s emphasis on its people being at the heart of the business is reflected in the company’s improved rankings and demonstrates that employee engagement continues to remain high.
“In fact, the company was one of just three short-listed in the Innovation in Employee Engagement Category.
Chief executive officer Mark Scanlon said: “As a business, we have always championed the importance of our people as a direct link to delivering excellent service for all of our customers, so to be recognised for a second consecutive year in the definitive survey of employee satisfaction is a great achievement.
“We are absolutely delighted to have exceeded last year’s ranking. The improved listing is testament to the value we place on our people and the positivity in our work place, which is clearly evident when clients and partners visit us”.
