SURVIVAL tips for companies will be the focus of a business event in Huddersfield.

Experts in sectors such as banking, exporting, training and environmental improvement will be among speakers at the two-hour seminar to be held at 6pm on Thursday at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top.

Organisations taking part include banking giant HSBC, Government export support body UK Trade and Investment, the Carbon Trust and Train 4 Gain.

The event has been organised by the Calderdale and Kirklees Manufacturing Alliance.

Speakers include Paul Fox, HSBC’s senior regional commercial director for Yorkshire, and Ian Burns, one of the bank’s export banking experts.

Simon Mutter and Brian Aungiers, of UKTI, will help firms identify new overseas markets and attend overseas exhibitions.

Bill Macbeth, managing director of the Textile Centre of Excellence in Huddersfield, will outline the free training available under the Train 4 Gain initiative while Peter Catton, of the Carbon trust will outline ways for firms to cut their energy bills.

Gary Smith, a director of Lockwood glass manufacturer Novaglaze, said: “The event aims to help firms take advantage of the support available in the current economic situation.”
