A SMALL firm providing healthcare products has achieved worldwide recognition.
FPD Medical Ltd, which has 12 employees, won the “platinum” award for its category in the first-ever Nursing Times Awards.
The accolade came in the category for best product in wound care and pressure ulcer prevention and recognised the success of FPD’s Aderma pressure ulcer prevention gel pads.
Judges praised the product as “brilliant”, saying: “It will make a massive difference to patients' lives.”
Chief executive Craig Barson said: “As a small company, we were delighted to come first – beating 3M and Aspen Medical into second and third place respectively.”
FPD, based at Greetland, supplies products including foam mattresses, duvets and pillows, hollow fibre covers, pads and gels.
Aderma dermal pads have been formulated to mimic fatty tissue and are used to redistribute pressure while protecting and padding bony areas of the body.
