HUDDERSFIELD will be the centre of West Yorkshire’s financial sector at a key meeting tomorrow.

The town’s Galpharm Stadium hosts a meeting of the Leeds Financial Services Initiative – which works to promote the sector across the Leeds city region, including Kirklees and Calderdale.

Leading figures from the local business community will be among those attending the forum, which aims to help financial services companies raising the profile of the region as a centre of excellence for financial services.

The financial services industry across the Leeds city region employs about 240,000 people and generates £13bn a year.

This accounts for 20% of the city region’s workforce and 27% per cent of its output in 2008.

It is the largest hub of financial services in the UK outside London.
