RISING numbers of Kirklees firms are seeking advice on saving money through “green” measures.

In the run-up to Green Office Week – which runs from May 9 to 13 – Business Link Yorkshire reported an increase in the number of companies seeking advice on energy reduction, producing less waste and making savings on raw materials.

Karen Marsden, head of Business Link Yorkshire’s customer information centre, said, “Research shows UK businesses could save a total of £6.4bn a year by implementing low-cost and no-cost measures.

“There are lots of simple ways that businesses can make their office greener. Simply switching lighting off in empty rooms could save as much as 15% on lighting costs.”

Business Link Yorkshire and its environmental partner, CO2 Sense, are running free workshops with environmental themes tomorrow at Victoria House in Leeds, and on Thursday, June 30, at Sedum House in Doncaster. Visit www.businesslinkyorkshire.co.uk
