AN award scheme has been set up for people who help women flourish in business.

Organisers are urging business advisers, mentors and trainers in Yorkshire to take part in the 2007 Prowess Awards.

The contest is being run by Prowess, a Norwich- based network of organisations supporting women entrepreneurs.

Judges include Sahar Hashemi, founder of Coffee Republic; Sally Preston, of baby foods firm Babylicious; Dawn Gibbins, chief executive of flooring company Flowcrete; and Penny Newman, of Cafe Direct.

Eight award categories include ones for business support professional of the year and woman business mentor of the year.

The closing date for entries is Friday next week.
