EMPLOYERS in Kirklees are being urged to help frame a new qualification for employees in the food and drink sector.
Improve, the Yorkshire-based food and drink sector skills council, is developing the Achieving Food Manufacturing Excellence qualification to boost the skills of people working in the fast-growing sector.
It will focus on issues such as strategy, leadership and management and draws on tried and tested improvement techniques such as lean manufacturing, focusing on their application in the food and drink industry.
Major food firms already working with Improve to develop the new qualification, include Heinz, Swizzels and Matlow.
