EMPLOYEES were returning to work today – after a double bank holiday bonanza.
An estimated one in four employees were off work all last week as they made the most of the Easter and Royal Wedding break.
Figures from price comparison website InvisibleHand said one in 10 companies had allowed all their staff to take the whole week off.
But almost as many employers blocked their employees from taking the time off.
Just 56% of people said that holiday allocation for the days between the two bank holidays didn’t cause any issues at their workplace.
Robin Landy, founder of InvisibleHand, said: “The extended Easter and Royal Wedding break was just too good an opportunity to miss.
“So it comes as no surprise that so many workers jumped at the chance to book off the three days in between.”
Mr Landy said factories and offices may have been empty, but airports and travel companies were kept busy as 2 million Britons used the extended break to get away.
