LEGAL practices in Yorkshire continue to see an improvement in their fortunes, according to a survey by the Law Society.

The survey, sponsored by Lloyds TSB Commercial, showed that practice fee income for legal firms increased by 3.6% in 2012 compared with just 1% the previous year. Average net profit per equity partner increased by 2% to £114,853 from £112,549.

Among other findings, the survey showed that the number of support staff per fee earner remained steady at 0.61 while the 166 firms polled recruited 824 new staff last year, incurring recruitment costs of £7.65m.
