MUSLIM businesses in Huddersfield can now bank in accordance with their faith.
Lloyds TSB has launched the first high street Islamic business account in the country.
The account, which complies with Islamic law, is available at all 2,000 UK banks and will be open to the UK's estimated 100,000 Muslim firms.
Account holders will also be able to use cash machines and internet banking facilities.
Lloyds TSB already operates current accounts, student accounts, mortgages and investment funds compliant with Islamic law - which states that businesses and individuals should not pay or receive interest.
The rules also say that individuals and businesses can only invest in certain companies - prohibiting dealings in industries such as gambling or alcohol.
Martyn Kendrick, area director for Lloyds TSB business banking in West Yorkshire, said: "Muslim businesses are making a phenomenal contribution to the West Yorkshire economy through their creativity and incredible work ethic."
