A FIRM in Huddersfield hiring out marquees for weddings and corporate events has been taken over by a Bradford-based events management company.

Acorn Marquees has been acquired by Amplitude AV Services. Acorn and its two employees have also switched from a site at Kirkburton to more modern premises in Mirfield.

Chris Conderson, managing director of Amplitude, said: “Acorn fits in well with our business. We have been both customers and suppliers to Acorn in the past and the company has a first class reputation – which is why we are keeping the name.

“The chance to add marquee hire to our existing range of services was too good an opportunity to miss. It can only complement and strengthen the range of services we offer.”

Amplitude, which has 15 full-time employees, was formed in 1990 as an audio visual hire firm. It acquired Leeds-based graphic production and print firm Vision Imaging in 2001.

Amplitude now offers a full range of conference management services, including building stage sets and exhibition stands, providing music, lighting and sound and graphic design.

Among its contracts, it has organised events for Hilton Hotels, the Learning and Skills Council, retail chain Wilkinsons and the Prison Service.
