A NEW training centre has opened in Huddersfield – to give young people the skills they need to find employment.

Shipley-based community investment business Accent, which works in the health, housing, education and regeneration sectors, has opened the new centre at Red Doles Lane, off Leeds Road.

The centre runs courses to help remove the barriers that stop people living in deprived areas from getting work.

Accent works with colleges, employers and trainees to help reduce the skills gap.

As well as teaching technical skills, the courses include mentors to help trainees develop life skills to help them contribute more to the community.

Schemes include ones to encourage more women to work in construction and help people run their own business.
