LOCAL development firm Conroy Brook has announced the appointment of Richard Conroy as chief executive.

Richard takes over the reins from his father Ivan who, as founding director, will still have a significant role in the business concentrating on land acquisitions and home sales.

Prior to joining the Holmfirth-based family business in 2005, Richard gained a BSC (Hons) degree in Surveying at Reading University. He then spent 10 years in property development in London, first at Taylor Woodrow plc, then working alongside renowned developer Sir Stuart Lipton at Stanhope plc.

Richard also holds a masters degree in design from Harvard University, where he graduated top of his year.

Richard is a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and also a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

As chief executive of Conroy Brook, Richard intends to continue to differentiate the company from other developers on quality.

The firm believes quality is integral to every project they deliver, be it sheltered apartments, £1m detached homes or close care units for disabled children.

The company continually pushes the boundaries on each project, looking at both the construction process and materials alongside design and architecture.

Richard said: “We are continually striving to improve the quality of our homes by closely focusing on efficient design and construction.

“As a result we aim to be the number one choice for customers aspiring to live in a well designed, innovative home of the highest quality.

“This is our core philosophy, instilled in the company by my father Ivan Conroy, and the position of the company today is a tribute to his vision and business integrity.”

Despite the current economic climate turnover for the business has risen from £2.9m in 2007 to £5.8m in 2009 and the company has remained in profit.

More information on the company and its current development projects can be found on the web site at www.conroybrook.co.uk Conroy Brook has now won a number of awards, including winner of the prestigious Master Builder of the Year Award 2008 (Yorkshire & Trent region), finalist in the Northern Design Awards 2008 and runner up in the West Yorkshire Built in Quality Awards 2008.

These were awarded for two of the company’s recent developments – Holme Valley Court, a retired living complex in Holmfirth, and Somersbury Court, a development of 30 apartments in Almondbury, Huddersfield.

The company has a particular reputation in the healthcare market, and has just completed a 15 bedroomed specialist close care unit, Rowan Court, on behalf of the Holly Bank Trust at its healthcare complex in Holmfirth.

This is alongside Holme Valley Court and the White Rose Nursing Home, which won Best New Development (Elderly Healthcare) in the 2005 Annual Healthcare Awards.
