KEY employees at a Huddersfield glazing supply firm have gained qualifications.

Senior staff at Novaglaze Gardner and Newton Ltd have completed an 18-month process to glass processors management NVQ level 3 certificates.

The training, led by Barnsley College, means all the successful candidates are competent in all the skills needed to perform the role of supervisor or foreman.

In time, NGN aims to have 10 employees with this advanced qualification. It follows on from the 25 staff already qualified to NVQ level 2.

Director Gary Smith said the success came as the company reported an increase in orders which has led to the introduction of a night shift at its premises at Queens Mill Road, Lockwood.

The company has provided specialist curved glass for the capsules on the iconic London Eye, royal palaces and stately homes as well as airports, hotels and shopping centres.
