BA carried 2.91m passengers in June – down by 2.9% on the figure for the same month last year.
Passenger numbers fell in all sectors – with UK and Europe traffic down by 2.0%, North and South America 3.4% down, Asia Pacific falling by 2.9% and Africa and the Middle East 7.6% lower.
BA planes were 76.7% full in June compared with 80.5% in June last year.
BA said the number of first class and business class passengers fell by 3.1% while economy class recorded a 3.8% decline.
BA’s passengers endured a catastrophic opening in March of Heathrow’s Terminal 5 – with flights cancelled, bags going astray and long queues.
The new £4.3bn terminal is now operating normally and BA said today it was “continuing to work well” with nearly 1.7m using it last month.
