EFFORTS to award 30% of all contracts for the 2012 Olympics in London could be jeopardised by the Government, it was claimed today.

The Forum of Private Business said it was concerned at plans to force business owners to report on gender and racial equality and offer trade union membership to employees as a pre-condition of bidding.

The FPB, which represents 25,000 small businesses UK-wide, said it wanted the Government to use the 2012 Games as a springboard to improve the public procurement tendering process for small firms, but claimed it was in danger of “confusing the issue”.
