Elland-based IT managed services provider Orchard Networks has announced plans to expand its data provision for small and medium-sized firms in Yorkshire with the launch of new services and the relocation of its data centre.

Currently, the firm protects data for business clients and works for companies throughout Yorkshire as well as high profile national clients, including visitor attraction Chatsworth and architect HGP.

Director Neil Ewing said Orchard would be launching a standalone data back up service for SMEs to coincide with the move of its data centre to a new state-of-the-art site between Leeds and Wakefield.

“We already look after significant volumes of data for our managed services clients and this is growing all the time,” said Neil.

“Working closely with local businesses on IT support has given us an insight into the key challenges they face in keeping their data safe and we have sought to address these with a new service designed specifically for Yorkshire firms.”

Mr Ewing said there were benefits for his team and clients in keeping the data in Yorkshire. “By keeping it close we can manage and monitor it more closely and make initial backups on site,” he said.

“The benefit for clients is that they can gain access to all their data quickly and easily and don’t have the security concerns that are associated with storing data offshore.”
