Party girls take to running for charity – and raise £136

FOUR friends swapped party dresses for running gear when they celebrated their 40th birthdays.

Jackie Johnson, Donna Foster, Audrey Hutchinson and Denise Diskin celebrated more than 35 years of friendship and their 40th birthdays with a party at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top.

The event included a cocktail reception for guests and themed entertainment through the 70s, 80s and 90s.

There was also a tuck shop with favourite sweets of the 70s and 80s.

The following day, Jackie, who lives at Waterloo, Donna and Audrey, both of Dalton, and Denise, of Greenhead, met up again to take part in the race for Life at Greenhead Park.

Donations to the tuck shop and sponsorship for the race raised more than £136 for Breast Cancer Research.
