Two Kirklees businesswoman have been nominated for a regional award.

Nicola Mellor, of Meltham-based social media and marketing agency Pepamint, and Amy Wray, of Holmfirth estate agent Applegate Properties, are both competing in the Women of Achievement in Business category at the Sue Ryder Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards.

Every year the charity, Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice hosts a special awards ceremony in recognition of outstanding women and the contribution they make in the Yorkshire region. The event takes place on Friday at the Royal Armouries, Leeds.

The awards, now in their 29th year, provide the opportunity to celebrate the achievement of women in the Yorkshire region while raising funds for Sue Ryder. More then 700 people are expected to attend the awards.

Nicola, who lives at Slaithwaite, launched Pepamint in 2013 to provide SMEs with social media and marketing assistance. She said: “It is a real achievement for me to be nominated for the Sue Ryder Awards. Not only can I support the charity but also celebrate the achievement of women in Yorkshire.”

Amy, of Holmfirth, started the business in 2010 from her spare bedroom and has grown it into one of the leading estate and lettings agents in Holmfirth.

She said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be nominated for this award. It is recognition for all my hard work over the last few years.

“I’m proud to support the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice and all the brilliant work they do.”
