A HUDDERSFIELD firm has been shortlisted for a major award after being named in the top 18 of Yorkshire’s most innovative businesses.
Piramal Healthcare, based at Leeds Road, Deighton, will compete for one of six prizes in the Innovator 09 Awards, recognising companies and individuals who develop new products and technologies.
Piramal makes chemicals in small batches for use in clinical trials to develop life-saving drugs. It also carries out large-scale production of chemicals used in established pharmaceutical products, including ones to treat conditions such as glaucoma, HIV and cancer.
Jim Farmery, assistant director of business for regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, said: “These awards provide an opportunity for entrants to raise their profile with clients and potential new customers and demonstrate their commitment to being a leader in their field.
“It’s never been more important to ensure business remains competitive”.
Awards will be presented at Leeds Town Hall on March 5.
