FIRMS keen to adopt renewable energy technologies can get the ball rolling at a free half-day conference.

Expert advice will be available from bodies including the Green Business Network, Yorkshire Energy Services and CO2Sense Yorkshire at the event, which runs from 8am to noon on Wednesday, May 12, at the Ponderosa Business Park in Heckmondwike.

The event, called Renewable Energy – The Business Case, will also provide a chance to meet local renewable technology installers.

Jim Porter, environmental business adviser for the GBN, said: “We have received many enquiries from businesses thinking about having renewable technologies installed and who would like to know more.

“This is a great opportunity for businesses from Kirklees to find out how they can go about it.”

Clr Peter McBride, Kirklees Council cabinet member for regeneration, said: “Kirklees Council is committed to combating climate change by reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and increasing renewable energy production across the district. Both the public and private sectors as well as households all have a role to play, so I am delighted that we can offer this free event to local businesses.” The deadline for bookings is Friday, May 7.
