BUDDING young business people in Huddersfield have been urged to compete for a top prize.

The search is on for Yorkshire and Humber's Shell Livewire Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2007.

The winner of the regional award will get £3,000 and a place in the UK final - with a chance to win £10,000.

James Smith, chairman of sponsor Shell UK, said: "Young entrepreneurs have a great chance to shine by entering the award.

"Even if they don't win, the recognition can help them gain valuable business and experience.

"Encouraging entrepreneurs is vital if Britain is to prosper from their innovation."

The competition is open to all young entrepreneurs aged 16 to 30 whose business will have been trading between three and 18 months on March 31.
