YELLOW Pages firm Yell said annual revenues from its UK printed directories slumped by nearly 11% in the wake of the recession.

The decline to £504.4m in the year to March 31 was offset by further progress at Yell.com, although the company said overall revenues for its UK business had decreased by 5.5% to £692.1m.

Underlying earnings for the region rose by 2.3% to £266.7m as Yell benefited from ongoing cost-saving programmes.

Across the group, which also publishes the Yellowbook in the USA and Yell Publicidad in Spain, revenues rose by 8.1% to £2.4bn.

Earnings were 10.4% up at £816.1m – helped by the effect of the weaker pound.
