A CONSULTANCY focusing on supply chain and logistics issues attracted major names from the industry at its ninth annual conference.

John Perry (pictured), of SCALA, based at Huddersfield’s Media Centre, hosted the SCALA Logistics Debate at the Marriott Forest of Arden, near Birmingham when the topic this year – Can we Take the Grey Hair out of Logistics? – provided a platform for intense and robust discussion.

The debate was chaired by David Grahamslaw, vice-chairman of CILT West Midlands, and included contributions from representatives of leading firms in the sector.

Clare Bottle, of Lafarge Cement and vice-chairman of Women in Logistics, took part in the debate and also addressed 120 delegates on questions of gender inequality.

Other issues covered during the conference included technology and how to attract talented people to the industry from other disciplines and sectors. There was also a vigorous questions-and-answers session and opportunities for networking.
