HUDDERSFIELD business leaders have been urged to enter a competition.

The Institute of Directors in Yorkshire is calling for entries to its 2008 Director of the Year Awards.

The annual awards aim to celebrate the achievements of the region's business leaders and are open to anyone of director level or equivalent status.

Categories include not-for-profit and voluntary sector director of the year, business adviser of the year, non-executive director of the year, energy efficiency in Yorkshire, entrepreneur of the year and young director of the year.

As well as the much-coveted Yorkshire director of the year award, there will also be judge’s special achievement and lifetime achievement accolades.

Last year’s winners included Kevin Linfoot, the man behind Leeds-based KW Linfoot, who scooped the director of the year award following his impressive commitment to driving development in the city over the last decade.

The winners will be revealed at a black tie ceremony on Thursday, September 4, at The Queen’s Hotel, Leeds. For details, go to www.dotya.co.uk. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, May 27.
