IS Huddersfield the most enterprising place in the region?

A nationwide competition is looking for the answer.

Yorkshire Forward is challenging towns, villages and cities across the region to show they have the credentials to compete for the title of Most Enterprising Place In Britain 2007.

It is searching for the region's hot spot of enterprise that best demonstrates the entrepreneurial spirit of Yorkshire and the Humber.

The winner of the regional heat will go forward to compete in a national final.

Judges will be looking for the town, village or city that has most improved the economic prospects of its locality and encouraged enterprise activities.

Alex McWhirter, head of enterprise at Yorkshire Forward, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for places and projects across our region to showcase their achievements in enterprise.

"Enterprise is a vital part of our economy and we are pleased to have the chance to show what makes working in Yorkshire and the Humber so special."

Entries for the regional competition should be received by April 30.
