COLNE Valley MP Jason McCartney got the message when he visited a Golcar firm.
The Tory MP was welcomed to the offices of text messaging specialist SMileS by director Mark Evans and business development manager Andy Earnshaw.
They explained the work of the firm and how it has donated £150,000 over the past eight years to local good causes. In particular, it has recently donated £18,000 to the Princes Trust – and asked Mr McCartney to help identify young people who cold benefit from support by the trust.
SMileS outlined its involvement in events such as the 2010 Kirklees Business Forum and The Yorkshire Mafia, a regional-wide networking organisation. The company will be exhibiting at the Mafia’s forthcoming conference in March at The Royal Armouries in Leeds.
The MP also explained his role representing local businesses, introducing them to other firms locally and further afield and the benefits of being involved in organisations such as the Huddersfield Best Practice Forum.
