Licensed insolvency practitioner Ted Wetton has been elected president of the Huddersfield and District Society of Chartered Accountants.

Mr Wetton, is pictured being congratulated by outgoing president, David Butterworth, of accountancy firm Wheawill & Sudworth, at the society’s annual meeting.

Mr Wetton is managing director of Gibson Booth Business Solutions & Insolvency.

The firm’s head office is based in Barnsley and has been advising and helping clients for more than 20 years in South Yorkshire,

The practice, which has branches throughout the UK, specialises in giving business advice, turnaround advice and insolvency advice, which includes Voluntary Arrangements.

Mr Wetton is a member of the Insolvency Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

He said: “I am delighted to take over the reins of leading the society during 2015/16.

“One of my aims will be to promote the ability of budding accountants to become chartered accountants without the need to run up debt at university.

“Young people can now train and qualify following A-Levels and also obtain a degree together with their chartered accountancy qualification on day release, whilst being employed by a firm.”
