WINE merchant Majestic showed its sales were back on track after customers kept their taste for quality wines over Christmas.
Fears in October that the retailer’s success story was running out of fizz were dispelled as Majestic said store sales rose by 8.4% in the nine weeks from November 1 to January 2.
Like-for-like sales for the firm, which has a store at Queensgate Retail Park in Huddersfield, grew by 4%.
Chief executive Steve Lewis said customers had left it late in the run up to the holidays after the “quiet spell” in October, but from November onwards sales had gathered pace.
