A BUSINESSMAN born in Huddersfield has been given a starring role promoting New Zealand to the film industry.
A company led by former Huddersfield New College student Simon Kozak has won a three-year deal to promote the NZ Body Art Awards.
The awards are backed by Weta World Studios, headed by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson and based in Wellington, New Zealand.
The awards will be presented to the top special effects trainees and graduates - improving their chances of gaining work with leading companies in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
The awards will also promote New Zealand as a centre of expertise in body art, make-up and special effects for the film and TV industry.
Simon and his wife Melanie run Just Marketing Partnerships in New Zealand.
Just Marketing will handle promotion and advertising for the awards and work on acquiring sponsorship.
Simon said box office blockbusters Lord of the Rings and King Kong were both filmed in New Zealand - putting the country on the map for filmmakers.
He said: "We lead the world in many areas of the arts down here - one of the last places you can get to in the south before you starting heading back north!
"For a simple Northern lad, I'm honoured to have the job to reinforce the position we have down here on the Hollywood stage."
Simon was born at Oakes in 1962 and educated at Huddersfield New College. He gained a degree in English literature from Lancaster University.
Just Marketing is a leading agency with clients including ANZ Bank, Jack Daniel's and Coca Cola.
Simon has lived on North Shore, Auckland, for three years - and gets up at 3am to follow Town's fortunes on the internet.
Award-winning Weta World specialises in make-up, animation and visual effects for films, TV programmes and commercials.
Its film credits include King Kong and Lord of the Rings as well as The Chronicles of Narnia, The Mask of Zorro, Hellboy and Van Helsing.
