BUILDERS’ merchant and DIY supplier Travis Perkins warned that 2008 profits would be at the low end of expectations following the slump in the construction sector.
The group, which owns Wickes and Tile Giant, said sales for the nine months to the end of September rose by 3.3% against the same period in 2007.
But recent trading had been below earlier expectations – with both the merchanting and retailing businesses experiencing more difficult conditions.
