FORMER employees of a Huddersfield textile firm returned to mark the retirement of one of their colleagues.

Barbara Harrison was presented with gifts from staff and the company when she retired from yarn spinner John L Brierley Ltd.

Mrs Harrison, who lives at Mirfield, has been a secretary at the Turnbridge-based company for 45 years.

She is secretary of the Dewsbury Conservative county group and Mirfield Conservative ward group. She is also secretary of Hopton United Reformed Church.

Her other interests include travel and music.

Company directors Ian and Graham Brierley and their mother Sarah hosted a lunch for Mrs Harrison and two former employees who retired earlier this year.

John Aitken, of Fixby, was production director at the company while Brian Du Feu, who lives at Almondbury, was its accountant.

Between them, Mrs Harrison, Mr Aitken and Mr Du Feu have 111 years service with the firm.
