A firm making noise control equipment has moved into bigger premises.

Wakefield Acoustics has expanded its manufacturing operations with the move from Cleckheaton to a modern 40,000sq ft factory at Flush Mills in Heckmondwike.

It follows the continued growth of the business and the expansion of the company’s product range.

The company has become a leading supplier of engineered acoustic systems for a variety of high specification applications worldwide.

Wakefield Acoustics has also seen an increase in demand for its more established noise control products in the UK.

The firm has seen a 50% rise in turnover since 2012 and plans to double revenues by 2018.

Activity has increased in a number of core markets – sectors such as petrochemical, power generation, water and waste, recycling and general industry and infrastructure. The firm has also made continued progress in emerging markets such as the oil and gas sector.

Wakefield Acoustics now employs 40 people – up from 25 three years ago. Five new manufacturing staff have been recruited in recent months as part of the move to its new facility and Wakefield Acoustics is still recruiting as part of its growth plans.

The company secured “substantial” investment from leading private equity firm Yorkshire Fund Managers (YFM) in December, 2014, as part of a management buyout of the business led by managing director Lee Nicholson.

Wakefield Acoustics has invested heavily in all areas of the business in the last few years. The firm said the new larger modern manufacturing facility provided significant opportunity to continue to expand and develop its manufacturing and engineering operations.

Mr Nicholson said: “We are absolutely delighted with our new facility which represents a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth and development.

“Our new factory, capacity and resource capabilities will allow us to continue to design and manufacture high quality noise control products and services worldwide. We are very pleased that we have been able to expand our business locally and create new local jobs as part of the move.”
