YORKSHIRE Water has awarded the biggest group of contracts in its history as it starts a massive investment programme.

The company has awarded contracts to seven major suppliers who will help it deliver £1.35bn of investment across the region over the next five years.

The appointed ‘partners’ will join Yorkshire Water employees to form a 500-strong asset delivery unit to oversee the programme of improvements.

They will help deliver major investment projects including guaranteeing customers high quality, secure supplies of drinking water, future-proofing the company’s treatment works against extreme weather and helping to protect the local environment.

Charlie Haysom, head of Yorkshire Water’s asset delivery department, said: “We’re delighted to welcome our partners to the team and look forward to working with them to deliver the challenging programme of investment we have planned over five years.

“As a major investor in the region, we’re committed to ensuring we continue to offer our customers the very best level of service for the lowest possible price and this programme of work – the largest we’ve ever embarked on – should go a long way to achieving this.”

Yorkshire Water provides contracts and work to more than 1,000 local businesses and supports many thousands of local jobs.

The company said its continued investment programme played a vital role in the economic well-being of the region.

The seven contractors include Morgan Est, which carries out major work in the water, energy and transport sectors.
