Huddersfield woke up to a sky of colour this morning.

Shades of purple and pink formed the sunrise over the town and many of our readers captured it on camera.

But despite the warm glow of the sky, Huddersfield weatherman Paul Stevens warns that the cold snap will continue, with a cold northerly wind making it feel colder.

He said: “I think the cold snap will return and if there’s any more snow it will be above 700ft and will turn into sleet on lower ground like the town centre.

“The cold weather will return, renewed by the Arctic air, and by the end of the weekend and into next week it will remain cold, snow showers are possible and it will last until Wednesday, possibly Thursday.”

“When we get very clear air as we have at the minute, everything looks sharper.

“The light can be reflected off the lying snow, making everything brighter.

“And we also had the sun’s rays reflected off very high cirrus ice clouds high in the atmosphere and also off stratus clouds in the lower atmosphere.

“It all makes everything sharper and brighter and the colours such as the pinks and oranges are far more pronounced”.
