A bit more on today’s fatal accident in Brighouse.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The male cycle rider sadly passed away at the scene as a result of injuries from the collision.

“A road closure remains in place on Elland Road while accident investigation work is completed.”

A 57-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

The accident happened on Elland Road, near its junction with Ashday Lane near Brookfoot, not far from the Casa bar and restaurant.

Breaking

A cyclist has died in a road tragedy in Brighouse and police have confirmed that the driver involved has been arrested.

Police were called to Elland Road shortly after 1.20pm today to a report of a collision between a Citroen C5 car and a bicycle.

Police are investigating reports that a 10-year-old girl was followed by a man in the Highburton area on Monday.

They say the suspicious incident occurred at 4.30pm.

The girl was walking her dog on Burton Acres Lane when she became aware of a man walking behind her.

She began to feel intimidated by how close he was and felt he was following her.

We’ve got news coming in of a fire at Green Hill Mill on Grange Road in Batley. No people involved and fire fighters are currently at the scene. Police have been closing the road so expect traffic.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “We’re just trying to save as much of the property as possible for now.”

Snow!

Reports in of snow in Leeds are coming in - while our weatherman Paul Stevens says it will be missing Huddersfield, my colleague claims he has seen a few snow flakes fall past the window at Examiner HQ. Has anyone else seen any signs? Let us know!

Train death

A bit of news coming in regarding the tragedy on the train lines at Deighton yesterday.

Police have announced the man who died was 22 years old, born October 28, 1993. An inquest is to open in Bradford on Tuesday.

The coroner’s office won’t be releasing his identity until then.
