Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman has raised the issue of the future of the town’s A & E unit in the Commons.
The veteran Labour MP took the opportunity to put Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt on the spot in Westminster.
Mr Sheerman is spearheading a fight to keep full A & E services at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Health chiefs are looking at plans to shift full services to Calderdale Royal Hospital, which is lumbered with a huge Private Finance Initiative debt.

A van crash has left 70 homes without gas.
Two homes were also evacuated as a precaution when a white Citroen Berlingo panel van careered into a gas mains pipe on Westfield Lane in Emley due to black ice just after 7am this morning.

TRAVEL
There is stop-start traffic on A637 Barnsley Road in both directions at Doctor Lane due to the closure of Westfield Lane in Emley.
In Birkenshaw, there is very slow traffic and a partially blocked route due to an accident and recovery work on A651 Bradford Road in both directions near Moorlands Road. Police directing traffic.
TRAVEL
Homes have been evacuated after this van crashed into a gas mains on Westfield Lane in Emley. Several homes have been affected as a precautionary measure.
Police said that the van found itself in this position after it and a Citroen car crashed, which then forced it off the road.
The road remains closed in both directions in between Jagger Lane and Lenacre Lane.

Flood alerts are still in place.
Those who live or work in properties near to the River Calder in Mirfield, Ravensthorpe, Brighouse and Elland have been warned to be vigilant, due to heavy rain.
Alerts are also in place for Huddersfield and Honley.
Rain is expected from 10am to 1pm and again from 4 to 7pm
