M62 all lanes open again

All lanes have now re-opened on the M62 Eastbound at the accident scene between Junction 21 (Milnrow) and Junction 22 Rishworth Moor. Let’s hope the queues start to ease.

Traffic

Bad news for drivers heading home. One lane has been closed and there is queueing traffic due to an accident on the M62.

Three vehicles are reported to have been involved in the incident on the eastbound carriageway between J21 A640 (Milnrow) and J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor).

Crime

Two night prowlers from Halifax caged for raping a vulnerable Huddersfield teenager as she struggled home have failed in a bid to clear their names.

Mubasher Ahmad and his brother-in-law, Mehmood Hussain, both 32, were caged for nine years at Bradford Crown Court after they were convicted of raping the lone 17-year-old.

Their victim, who cannot be identified, was picked up by Ahmad as she tried to get back to Huddersfield after midnight in October 2014.

She had been out drinking with a pal, London’s Appeal Court heard, but became stranded after they had a row while sharing a cab.

A club doorman has been given a community sentence after he floored a customer with a punch.

Leeds Crown Court heard Guy Adrian Nutchey was employed at Five Bar in Cross Church Street when two people were removed from the premises on the evening of February 14 last year.

Mehran Nassiri prosecuting said a witness saw him punch one of the men, Christopher Green, outside in the eye causing him to fall to the floor and lose consciousness for around 30 seconds.

Meanwhile Nutchey was then seen to push the other man, Daniel Donaghey in the chest resulting in him stumbling back on losing his balance although he was not injured.

Crime

Police have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to following arson attacks in Batley.

Three separate reports were received of fire damage being caused to two cars parked in Upper Road and two large waste bins outside the Holy Trinity Church. The damage is all reported to have occurred between 6am and 6.30am on 20 March.

PCSO Simon Huscroft, of Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “As part of our ongoing enquiries, we are keen to identify and speak to the man pictured in this CCTV image. We would urge anyone with information about his identity, or indeed the man himself, to come forward to assist us in our investigation of these offences.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team via 101.”

Never mind parking in a disabled bay without a blue badge, the driver of this Bentley Continental GT decided to dump the vehicle in a spot which was clearly marked off with yellow crisscrosses.
